Which porta potty rental do I need in McAllen?

Most McAllen renters need either a standard porta potty or a deluxe 2-in-1 unit. A standard unit covers a jobsite crew of up to 20 or about 50 guests for 4 hours. The deluxe 2-in-1 adds a flushing toilet and a hand sink, so it suits quinceañeras, bodas and family parties. Public events also need at least one wheelchair-accessible unit.

Heard on our phones

What callers asked us — and what we told them

These are real questions from a 19-call sample of our 2026 rental calls, with names removed. 14 of the 19 calls were for parties, weddings and festivals, 4 needed a unit within 24 hours, and 3 asked about wheelchair access. The answers below are the same ones dispatch gives on the phone.

“Is it nice? Not something old and beat up?”
A host planning a 90th birthday for 60 guestsOur answer: Event units stay separate from construction units and go out clean and unscratched.
“We have a bathroom in our house, but we just want one extra… in case multiple people have to go at the same time.”
A birthday-party hostOur answer: One extra unit for 30–50 guests keeps the house bathroom (and septic) out of it.
“Does it have to be ADA? It has to be wheelchair accessible. That's all I know.”
An event hostOur answer: Wheelchair-accessible costs less than a documented ADA-compliant unit. We ask which you need.
“We need to make sure they get washed on Saturday.”
A festival organizer expecting 2,000 peopleOur answer: Mid-event service: pump, scrub and restock on Saturday night before Sunday's crowd.
“Do I still have to pay for a full month if I don't need it that long?”
A homeowner remodeling a bathroomOur answer: A 28-day cycle is cheaper than a weekly rate — and billing stops the day you call.
“I didn't realize it was as full as it was. I'm up to the brim.”
A camper ownerOur answer: Dispatch checks today's pump truck routes first and books the earliest open slot.
“Are they going to have a problem if I put it at the very end of the street?”
A homeownerOur answer: Keep it inside your property line — an inspector who spots it in the street calls the rental company.
“The driver got in an accident and can no longer deliver.”
A family-reunion host, the day beforeOur answer: Call before 11 AM. We check every open route while you're on the line.
“Don't need all that going into my house system.”
A camp-out host with 30 guestsOur answer: Septic and rural systems are the #1 reason Valley families rent for a party.

Valley-tough service

How do you keep a porta potty clean in McAllen heat?

Eric Rental Works services 28-day units once a week and adds a second visit on busy summer sites. Each visit pumps the tank, scrubs the seat, walls and floor, recharges deodorizer and restocks paper and sanitizer. Valley afternoons regularly top 100°F, so placement in shade and weekly service matter more here than up north.

  1. Pump — tank vacuumed into the service truck.
  2. Scrub — seat, urinal, walls, floor, door handle.
  3. Recharge — fresh deodorizer and water.
  4. Restock — paper, sanitizer; soap and towels on deluxe units.
  5. Log — visit date and time recorded for your records.

Restrooms for the way the Valley celebrates

Valley parties run big and run late. A 150-guest, 6-hour quinceañera with a bar needs about 5 standard units — or one restroom trailer plus 2 deluxe units, and every evening event gets its delivery the day before because trucks stop at 5 PM.

Builders, farms & crews

What do OSHA rules require on Valley jobsites and farms?

Construction sites follow OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51: 1 toilet for up to 20 workers, then 1 seat and 1 urinal per 40. Farm field crews of 11 or more follow OSHA 29 CFR 1928.110: 1 toilet and 1 handwashing facility per 20 workers, within a quarter-mile walk. Hidalgo County's citrus, onion and vegetable crews fall under the farm rule.

Porta potty questions from McAllen callers

Do you rent porta potties by the day?

No — event rentals are priced per event, not per day. Eric Rental Works drops the unit off Friday (or Thursday on busy weekends) and picks it up Monday for the same price as one day. A Saturday birthday or a Sunday carne asada costs the same whether the unit stays one day or four.

How much does a porta potty rental cost in McAllen?

A standard porta potty for a weekend event in McAllen runs about $249–$299 all-in, with delivery and pickup included. A 28-day jobsite rental with weekly cleaning runs about $175–$199 per cycle plus a one-time delivery fee. Eric Rental Works adds no fuel surcharge and no card fee.

How much is the porta potty with the sink inside?

The deluxe 2-in-1 unit — flushing toilet, urinal and hand sink in one — runs about $286–$360 per event in McAllen. Renting a standard unit plus a separate handwash station costs more, because a handwash station alone is about $199. That is why most party hosts choose the 2-in-1.

Can you deliver a porta potty today in McAllen?

Yes, when you call before 11 AM and a truck has room on a Valley route. Same-day orders in McAllen, Pharr, Mission, Edinburg and San Juan usually arrive that afternoon. A same-day fee of about $100–$200 is quoted before you pay. Call (956) 396-3589 — same-day is booked by phone only.

Are there extra fees like fuel or card charges?

No. Eric Rental Works quotes one all-in price: unit, delivery, pickup, stocking and tax. Many companies add a fuel surcharge (about $35 in calls we reviewed) and a 3% card fee after the quote. Ours does not. Only a same-day fee or an extra service visit can be added, and only if you ask for them.

Is the event porta potty nice, or old and beat up?

Event units are kept separate from construction units. Party and wedding units go out clean, unscratched and fully stocked — not the scuffed boxes you see on job sites. Ask dispatch to text you a photo of the exact unit before delivery.

Does it have to be ADA, or just wheelchair accessible?

For most private parties, wheelchair accessible is enough: a wide, ground-level unit a wheelchair can roll into. A documented ADA-compliant unit is for public events and sites where an inspector or venue will check paperwork. The compliant unit costs more, so ask dispatch which one your event needs.

Can I cancel if something happens?

Yes. Cancel up to 24 hours before scheduled delivery for a full refund — bad weather, a change of plans, anything. Cancellations within 24 hours of delivery are not refundable, because the truck and unit are already committed.

Can it go at the end of the street instead of my yard?

Keep it on your own property. If a city inspector sees a unit in the street or right-of-way, the rental company gets a call. Place it just inside your property line, on a flat spot, ideally in shade.

Will it smell in McAllen heat?

Heat speeds up odor, and Valley afternoons regularly pass 100°F in summer. Keep the unit in shade if you can, turn the vent away from seating, and keep weekly service. Busy summer jobsites should add a second service visit. One caller put it plainly: as the week goes on, heat makes it progressively worse.

Are you a local company or a broker?

Eric Rental Works is a local operator at 1712 Fresno Ave in McAllen with its own units and drivers. When you call, the person on the phone schedules our own truck, quotes the all-in price and can confirm your delivery day on the spot.

¿Hablan español?
